Yikes!!

My husband is the bravest man. While leaving my parents house tonight, which is kinda out in the country, Mike spotted a snake near our car. He calmly brought Noah back inside and then chased the snake down with a shovel. Multiple times he had to rake the snake closer to him so that he could try to kill it. After it was dead Kenny declared that it was a copperhead snake- yikes!! Copperheads are poisonous snakes. I give thanks to the Lord that I didn't walk right out and step on the snake and that Mike noticed the snake in the darkness. I am so thankful for the Lord's hedge of protection around our family. This is what it looked like-

Competition

Noah rolled over today- yeah!! He despises tummy time so I was convinced he would be 1 before accomplishing this milestone. Kirstin brought her baby Pierce, who is 1 week older than Noah but has been rolling over since 2.5 months, over today. The boys were laying on a mat and Pierce was showing off his skills, then when out of no where Noah rolled over from his back to his stomach and then back to his back. He acted like it was no big deal and that he had been rolling over for weeks. I guess all he needed was a little competition from his buddy Pierce to get moving. Maybe I should have another friend come over and teach Noah how to sleep through the night :)

Noah trying to eat Pierce's elbow...what can i say, the boy likes to eat!!

1st Blog

Well, I have decided to enter the world of blogging. No promises that this will be interesting, but I felt blogging would be a good outlet for some of my thoughts and also a good way to connect with other moms.

Today, Wednesday, is my almost favorite day of the week (no day of the week can compete with the days-- Friday- Sunday-- I have off with Mike). At 1230 every Wed. I meet with a group of my friends that are new moms. One friend I've known since high school, others from church, and one from Bible Study Fellowship. I am thankful for these girls and see it as an answered prayer from God that He has placed them in my life . We meet each week, eat lunch, and talk about the joys and struggles of being a wife and new mom. I am appreciative for their honesty and sincerity, it is a reminder that none of us are alone in our struggles and it's fun to have them to share my joys with. When I first found out I was pregnant, a little over a year ago, I prayed that I would have friends to go through the process of being pregnant with. I had lots of friends that were already mommys that offered wonderful advice, but there is nothing like having someone to talk to that is currently experiencing morning sickness. The Lord definitely listened. With in a week I discovered that a friend of mine, Kirstin, was expecting the day after me and then my 1st day of BSF I met Rebecca, that was due two days after me. Wow, God is faithful- what an amazing blessing these girls have been to me and He continues to grow our group. I think we now have six moms with babies ranging from 6 weeks to 6 months.

Today we talked about sleeping, ahem, or lack there of since having a baby. Noah is a sweet, sweet, beautiful, 4.5 month old baby boy. The only glitch is that he continues to wake up every 2-3 hours to eat...I was under the misconception that only newborns ate so frequently- FALSE!! People suggest letting him "cry it out" other wise known as "CIO" but when I go to pick him up he acts like he is starving!! After eating he goes right back to sleep for at least 2 hours and then wakes up hungry again. Any suggestions out there? I think I am going to have Mike give him a bottle of formula for the night feeding...maybe the formula will keep him feeling fuller longer than breast milk. It really wouldn't be a big deal to continue feeding him through the night but I am about to start another job at the end of August and I don't want to have to be up 3 times a night and then have to go work for 12 plus hours. Again, any suggestions are welcomed.

Ok, that is enough blogging for today. Hopefully, I will become better at blogging and my future posts will not be so wordy. And seriously, any sleeping suggestions are appreciated.
